As A Child’s Song celebrates its 23rd year in operation, we are grateful for the unparalleled success we have experienced in the last year. When the pandemic began in 2020, no one knew what the future might hold. Like many businesses we had to close our doors temporarily and ride out the unknown. Thankfully, our staff rallied to pivot as much as possible – offering online classes, taking our board meetings to Zoom and more. As a result of everyone’s determination, we have seen more success in 2021 – year-to-date, than in any previous period.
In 2021, we were able to resume in-person Melody Gym classes. We also continued virtual lessons to protect many of our clients who are immunocompromised or more susceptible to illness. We increased our staff compensation package and assembled a solid and stable team of instructors and music therapists. As a result of fortifying our team, we had record enrollment of over 100 students in-house at our Thornton and DU locations and even added an additional teaching room at our Thornton Studio. Our students successfully performed in 2 virtual and 4 in-person recitals. We also added an additional school for after-school programming and expanded our outreach program into 4 Shiloh House residential treatment programs. Being included in their mission to offer youth and families support and services to overcome challenges, enhancing their success in the community, is an honor. Supporting all of our efforts was a banner year for fundraising, receiving over $160,000 in grants.
Not to take any success for granted, we continue to push to increase our reach in 2022 and make an even bigger impact in our community. We will continue our strategic planning from last year by implementing goals that include:
- Increasing in-house enrollment by 25%
- Expanding outreach program to include 3 more schools (Welby, Meadow, & Bal Swan) and 1 community center (Northglenn Alliance)
- Expanding Melody Gym to add more days and times
- Showcasing 6-8 in-person recitals
- Adding several more staff members
- Increasing collaborations with other nonprofit organizations
- Increasing grant receipts to further our impact to at-risk populations
