A TASTE OF MUSICAL THEATRE

AN INTRODUCTION TO THEATRE BASICS

Children aged 6-14 years have the opportunity to explore the Golden Age of musical theater! Let’s take a swinging step back to the 1950s as we sing, dance and tell classic stories! Participants have the opportunity to learn performance techniques in Rock and Roll, Jazz, Swing, and traditional Pop, in these fun feel-good shows, book musicals, and big dance numbers!

Our summer session instructors are accomplished musicians and talented educators experienced in working with students of all ages and abilities. They have thoughtfully developed summer sessions that will be engaging and fun so that participants learn by interacting with music in new ways and experience camaraderie and community among other music lovers.

SUMMER Ukulele

BEGINNER UKULELE CLASSES FOR CHILDREN

Learn a variety of ukulele playing techniques from our highly trained educators starting with the fundamentals including, tuning, chords, fingerstyle technique, strum patterns, chord progressions and rhythm. Then learn to transpose your favorite songs as you further develop your ukulele playing skills in fun and meaningful ways to you. Our Summer sessions inspire creativity and a sense of pride with weekly private or group lessons in which students hear results quickly and learn to jam with others.
 
SUMMER BEGINNING UKULELE SESSION: 
June 6th – July 25th 
Wednesdays at 4:30pm 
Plus an opportunity to perform at our recital on July 29th.
 
$150/7-week session – Depending on interest and engagement, this session could become a year-round class

SUMMER BUCKET DRUMMING

Bucket Drumming: A Rhythm-Filled Adventure

Get ready to discover the exciting world of percussion in a unique and fun way with Bucket Drumming! Unleash your inner drummer as you explore the rhythmic possibilities of a simple household item – a bucket.

Bucket drumming is a dynamic and engaging form of percussion that utilizes ordinary buckets as drums. This class provides students with a hands-on experience, allowing them to create beats, rhythms, and melodies using their own two hands and a drumstick.

Through various rhythmic exercises, games, and group activities, our expert instructors will guide participating musicians in exploring different drumming patterns and creating their own unique beats. They will also introduce fundamental concepts such as dynamics, tempo, and improvisation, fostering creativity and self-expression.

No prior drumming experience is required to join this class – it’s open to all skill levels. So, whether your child dreams of becoming a professional drummer or simply want to explore the joys of percussion, our Bucket Drumming class offers a lively and enjoyable introduction to the world of rhythm.

ENSEMBLE LEARNING

New for Summer 2023, ACS is offering a Summer Rock Band session – with band name to be selected during the session by participants!
 
Hand-selected clients of all ages will gather to learn the basics of ensemble work, joining together to learn new songs and performance techniques.  Collaboration and playing with their peers will help strengthen their knowledge and broaden their playing abilities. 
 
SUMMER SESSION ROCK BAND:

Tuesdays from 7:30 – 8:30 pm
